Pinion Flange & Oil Seal: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Mark drive shaft and pinion flange for installation reference. Disconnect drive shaft at rear axle pinion flange. Wire drive shaft aside. Mark pinion flange, pinion shaft and nut for installation reference.
  2. Place reference marks on pinion shaft and nut. Remove pinion flange nut and washer. Place drain pan under pinion flange. Using puller, remove pinion flange. Pry out pinion oil seal.
