Test A-1, ABS Works Frequently But Vehicle Does Not Decelerate

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect Pinout Box(J-35592). Disconnect "G" sensor connector. Sensor is located in center console. Using a DVOM, check continuity between pinout box terminals No. 1 and 13. If continuity does not exist, check "G" sensor. Refer to TEST C-1, "G" SENSOR INSPECTION. If continuity exists, check and repair short in Green wire between EBCM, "G" sensor and ignition switch, or Blue/White wire between EBCM and ignition switch. See WIRING DIAGRAM.
  2. Ensure braking force distribution is normal between front and rear of vehicle. Repair mechanical brake malfunction if necessary. If braking force is normal, ensure axle components are installed properly. Repair if necessary.
  3. Inspect each wheel speed sensor. If speed sensor is loose, damaged or if powdered iron is sticking to each speed sensor or sensor ring, replace sensor or sensor ring as necessary. Ensure speed sensor output is normal. Refer to TEST C-2, SENSOR OUTPUT INSPECTION. Replace speed sensor or repair wiring as necessary.
  4. Ensure transmission switch input is normal. Refer to TEST C-4, TRANSMISSION INPUT INSPECTION. Replace transmission switch or repair wiring as necessary. Ensure transfer switch input is normal. Refer to TEST C-3, 4WD SWITCH INSPECTION. Replace transfer switch or repair wiring as necessary.
  5. If all previous steps have been completed, and component malfunction does not exist, replace EBCM.
