Removal (1.8L DOHC)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove upper intake manifold. See UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove fuel pipe bracket retaining bolts from lower intake manifold.
  2. Remove EGR valve and EGR pipe bolts at exhaust and lower intake manifold. Remove EGR pipe bracket bolt from thermostat housing. Remove EGR valve. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Disconnect ground cable from lower intake manifold. Disconnect vacuum booster hose from vacuum booster. Remove fuel return and supply line bracket retaining bolts.
  4. Remove oil cooler line bracket retaining bolts from under lower intake manifold. Remove manifold stay retaining bolts from front and rear side of lower intake manifold, and remove manifold stay.
  5. Remove 3 fuel injector wiring harness clips. Remove lower intake manifold bolts and nuts. Remove lower intake manifold and gasket.
