Removal (1.6L DOHC)

  1. Remove upper intake manifold. See UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove oil cooler pipe clip retaining nuts located below lower intake manifold. On non-turbo vehicles, remove air transducer and Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) bracket.
  2. On all vehicles, release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect fuel return and supply lines. Remove fuel rail retaining bolts. Remove fuel injector wiring harness bracket retaining bolts.
  3. Remove fuel rail, with fuel injectors attached, from lower intake manifold. Remove lower intake manifold bolts and nuts. Remove lower intake manifold and gasket. See Figure .
