Valve Lifters: Removal

  1. Remove intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove valve covers. See VALVE COVERS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove rocker arms and push rods. See ROCKER ARM & PUSH ROD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Using Valve Lifter Remover (J-9290-1), remove valve lifters from cylinder block. Mark component location for installation reference.
CAUTION: If camshaft is replaced, replace all valve lifters. When installing new valve lifters, add appropriate engine oil supplement to engine oil to ensure proper break-in of components.
