Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal: Installation

  1. Lubricate inner diameter of new seal with engine oil. Install new seal over mandrel of Seal Installer (J-34686) until dust lip bottoms against collar of seal installer. See Fig 1 .
  2. Position seal installer on crankshaft, and hand tighten screws. Ensure dowel pin of seal installer aligns with dowel pin hole in crankshaft. See Fig 1 .
  3. Lubricate outer diameter of new seal with engine oil. Place seal in rear housing bore. Tighten handle on seal installer, and push seal into rear housing until seal installer is against crankshaft.
  4. Remove seal installer. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
