Oil Pan: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove dipstick. Raise and support vehicle by frame. Remove front skid plate and crossmember (if equipped). Remove catalytic converter bolts and exhaust pipe at manifolds.
  2. Disconnect front drive shaft bolts at front axle (if equipped). Remove flywheel/drive plate cover brackets. Remove starter. Remove flywheel/drive plate inspection cover.
  3. On 4WD vehicles, place reference marks on pitman arm and steering gear shaft. Remove nut, washer and pitman arm from steering gear. Remove nut washer and idler arm.
  4. Remove front axle vent rubber tube. Support front axle. Remove front axle-to-mount bolts. Lower front axle. On all vehicles, drain engine oil. Remove oil pan bolts, oil pan and gasket.
