Cylinder Head (3.1L): Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install cylinder head gasket with words, THIS SIDE UP, away from cylinder block. Apply sealant to cylinder head bolt threads before installing.
    CAUTION: Ensure sealant is applied to threads of cylinder head bolts before installing.
  2. Install cylinder head bolts finger tight. Tighten bolts in sequence. See Fig 1 . Tighten bolts to specification in 2 steps. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Adjust valve clearance before installing valve covers. See VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS.
