Cylinder Head (2.8L): Removal

  1. Remove intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold. Lower vehicle.
  2. On left cylinder head, remove oil dipstick and tube assembly. Remove ground strap at rear of cylinder head. Disconnect water temperature sensor connector from front of cylinder head. On right cylinder head, remove accessory drive belt, alternator, and air pump with bracket attached.
  3. Remove valve covers. Remove rocker arms and push rods. See ROCKER ARM & PUSH ROD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove cylinder head bolts. Remove cylinder head and gasket.
