Inspection (3.1L)

  1. Inspect components for damage. Ensure pressure regulator valve slides freely in bore. Using feeler gauge, measure side clearance between gear and oil pump housing. Replace pump assembly if clearance exceeds specification. See OIL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  2. With gears in oil pump housing, measure gear-to-gear clearance. Replace oil pump assembly if clearance exceeds specification.
  3. With gears in oil pump housing, place straightedge across oil pump housing. Measure gear end clearance between both gears and straightedge. Replace oil pump assembly if clearance exceeds specification.
