Timing Belt & Sprockets: Removal
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Place small piece of wood on jack under oil pan and carefully raise motor. Remove rear side torque rod and right engine mount. Remove body side and engine side mounts.
- Remove drive belts, crank pulley and timing belt cover. Ensure timing marks are aligned with TDC. Use Crank Holder (J-37376) to remove timing belt crankshaft pulley.
- Confirm crankshaft is at TDC before removing belt. Rotate crankshaft so camshaft pulley dowel is at 12 o'clock and alignment mark aligns with edge of cylinder head. See Figure

.NOTE: The rear of timing belt crankshaft pulley has a small indent which aligns with small triangle on engine block at 12 o'clock.
- Loosen belt tensioner attaching bolt. Insert Allen wrench into pulley tensioner attaching bolt. Loosen timing belt tensioner by rotating pulley clockwise. Remove timing belt. Remove rocker cover. Remove crankshaft pulley. Loosen camshaft pulley attaching bolts. Remove camshaft pulley.
