Float & Sending Unit

  1. Remove sending unit from fuel tank. Using an ohmmeter, check sending unit resistance with changes in float position between terminals No. 1 and No. 3 of sending unit connector. SeeFigure .
  2. With float in "F" (up) position, resistance should be 1-5 ohms. With float in "E" (down) position, resistance should be 103-117 ohms. With float in "1/2" (middle) position, resistance should be 28.5-36.5 ohms. If resistance is NOT as specified, replace sending unit.
  3. Check resistance between terminals No. 1 and No. 3. There should be continuity. If continuity exists, replace sending unit.
