Timing Belt & Sprockets: Inspection

  1. Timing belt must be handled carefully. DO NOT  bend belt in an arc less than .79" (20 mm) in radius. Avoid twisting or kinking belt. DO NOT  allow belt to become contaminated by water, oil, dirt or other contaminates. Inspect belt for cracks or damage. Replace belt if necessary.
  2. Measure tension pulley spring length and force. If length exceeds 3.105" (78.87 mm) or force is less than 172-186 lbs. (24-26 kg), replace spring.
