Cylinder Head: Inspection

  1. Measure all mating surfaces of cylinder head for excessive warpage. Cylinder head-to-block mating surface warpage can not exceed .008" (2.0 mm). Maximum cylinder head resurfacing is .016" (4.0 mm). Warpage on intake and exhaust manifold mating surfaces can not exceed .002". (.05 mm). Maximum manifold side resurfacing is .016" (4.0 mm).
  2. On Pickup 2.3L and 2.6L models, cylinder head height should be checked. Standard cylinder head height is between 3.667-3.671 (93.15-93.25 mm). Maximum cylinder head resurfacing is .016" (4.0 mm).
NOTE: If cylinder head resurfacing is performed, valve depression must be checked or damage may occur.
