Camshaft & Rocker Arm Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove air ducting, electrical wiring, vacuum lines and control cables as needed from above valve cover (if equipped). See Figure, Figure or Figure . Remove valve cover. Rotate crankshaft until No. 4 piston is at TDC of compression stroke. See Figure.
    CAUTION: Failure to remove rocker arm shaft retaining bolts in the proper sequence in small increments may alter cylinder head flatness.
  2. Remove timing belt cover and timing belt. Remove camshaft timing belt sprocket and guide plate. Remove rocker arm shaft and bracket assembly in small increments and in the proper sequence. See Fig 1. Remove camshaft.
