Camshaft & Rocker Arm Assembly: Installation

  1. Apply a heavy coat of engine oil to camshaft journals and lobe surfaces. Install camshaft. Camshaft timing mark (indent directly behind front journal) must face straight upward. Apply silicone to mating surface of No. 1 rocker arm retaining bracket. Install rocker arm shaft brackets. Punch marks on end of rocker arm shafts must face up and forward.
  2. When installing the distributor, ensure that rotor is aligned with No. 4 cylinder in firing position and mark on distributor housing is aligned with mark on cylinder head. See Fig 1. Check that crankshaft sprocket mark is aligned with TDC mark on front cover. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation.
