Piston Pin Replacement: Inspection

  1. Correct or replace connecting rod if distortion is greater than .008" (.20 mm) or bend is greater than .006" (.15 mm) per 3.94" (100.0 mm) of length. Standard distortion and bend is .002" (.05 mm) or less.
  2. Check piston pin diameter at several points around the circumference. Check interference fit between connecting rod small end and piston. Check fit of pin in piston.
