Cylinder Head: Installation

  1. Clean gasket mating surfaces. Clean head bolts and threads in cylinder block. Install new head gasket with marking "TOP" upward, and install cylinder head.
  2. Install and tighten head bolts in progressive steps to initial specification, then tighten to final specification. See Fig 1 . Tighten first to 61 ft. lbs. (83 N.m), then to 72 ft. lbs. (98 N.m). Install remaining components in reverse order of removal. Adjust valves.
