Connecting Rod Bearings

  1. After ensuring rod caps are marked for cylinder identification, remove rod caps. Use Plastigage method to check for proper clearance. Rod caps must be tightened to specification when measuring clearances.
  2. If not within limits, new bearings must be installed. Replacement bearings are available in standard, 0.010" (.25 mm), and 0.020" (.50 mm) undersize.
