REAR FINAL DRIVE ASSEMBLY : Unit Removal & Installation: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove center muffler. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM : Removal & Installation .
  2. Remove stabilizer bar. Refer to REAR STABILIZER : Removal & Installation .
  3. Remove rear propeller shaft from the final drive. Refer to REAR PROPELLER SHAFT : Removal & Installation  (2WD).
  4. Remove member stay from rear suspension member. Refer to REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER : Removal & Installation .
  5. Remove rear wheel sensor. Refer to REAR WHEEL SENSOR : Removal & Installation .
  6. Set a suitable jack to rear final drive assembly.
    CAUTION: Never place a jack on the rear cover (aluminum case).
  7. Remove the mounting bolts and nut connecting to the suspension member.
    CAUTION: Secure rear final drive assembly to suitable jack.
  8. Separate drive shafts from final drive. Refer to REAR DRIVE SHAFT : Removal & Installation .
    NOTE: To remove rear drive shaft, it is necessary to lift down and hold rear final drive assembly.

  9. Remove rear final drive assembly.

    CAUTION: Secure rear final drive assembly to suitable jack while removing it.
