FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT : Removal & Installation: Removal

  1. Shift transmission to the neutral position, and then release parking brake.
  2. Remove front under cover. Refer to FRONT UNDER COVER : Exploded View .
  3. Remove front cross bar. Refer to TRANSVERSE LINK : Exploded View .
  4. Remove exhaust front tube and catalytic converter/catalyst converter. Refer to CATALYST : Removal & Installation .
  5. Remove steering gear assembly to avoid contact with motor. Refer to STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE : Removal & Installation (Models with electric power steering) or STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE : Removal & Installation (Models with direct adaptive steering).
  6. Put matching marks SYMBOL on propeller shaft flange yoke and final drive companion flange.

    CAUTION: For matching mark, use paint. Never damage propeller shaft flange yoke and final drive companion flange.
  7. Remove propeller shaft assembly fixing bolts and nuts, and separate propeller shaft assembly from final drive companion flange.

  8. Remove propeller shaft assembly from the vehicle.
    CAUTION:
    • Never damage transfer front oil seal.
    • Never damage O-ring.
    • Wrap transmission interference area SYMBOL with shop cloth or equivalent to protect propeller shaft from breakage.

  9. Perform inspection after removal. Refer to FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT : Inspection .
