- The combination meter calculates the vehicle speed based on the wheel speeds.
- The electronic stability program control unit sends information on the wheel speeds on vehicles over the electronic ignition switch control unit to the combination meter. The combination meter calculates the vehicle speed, compares it with the internally stored speedometer characteristic, and then actuates the speedometer accordingly by way of a stepper motor.
