Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Infiniti Q50. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. CHECK ELECTRICALLY-DRIVEN BRAKE UNIT IGNITION POWER SUPPLY

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
    2. Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.
      CAUTION:

      Never operate the vehicle.

    3. Disconnect 12V battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY .
    4. Disconnect the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector.
    5. Connect 12V battery cable to negative terminal.
    6. Check the voltage between the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector and ground.

    7. Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.
      CAUTION:

      Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.

    8. Check the voltage between the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector and ground.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 3  .

    NO 

    GO TO STEP 2  .

  2. CHECK ELECTRICALLY-DRIVEN BRAKE UNIT IGNITION POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
    2. Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.
      CAUTION:

      Never operate the vehicle.

    3. Disconnect 12V battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY .
    4. Check the 10A fuse (#54).
    5. Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
    6. Check the continuity between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.

    7. Check the continuity between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector and ground.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    Perform trouble diagnosis for ignition power supply.

    NO 

    Repair or replace error-detected parts.

  3. CHECK ELECTRICALLY-DRIVEN INTELLIGENT BRAKE UNIT 12V BATTERY POWER SUPPLY

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
    2. Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.
      CAUTION:

      Never operate the vehicle.

    3. Connect 12V battery cable to negative terminal.
    4. Check the voltage between the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector and ground.

    5. Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.
      CAUTION:

      Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.

    6. Check the voltage between the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector and ground.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 5  .

    NO 

    GO TO STEP 4  .

  4. CHECK ELECTRICALLY-DRIVEN INTELLIGENT BRAKE UNIT 12V BATTERY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
    2. Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.
      CAUTION:

      Never operate the vehicle.

    3. Disconnect 12V battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY .
    4. Check the 50A fusible link (#D).
    5. Check the continuity and for short circuit between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector terminal (1) and 50A fusible link (#D).
    6. Check the continuity and for short circuit between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector terminal (2) and 50A fusible link (#D).
    7. Check the 10A fuse (#83).
    8. Check the continuity and for short circuit between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector terminal (28) and 10A fuse (#83).

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    Perform trouble diagnosis for 12V battery power supply.

    NO 

    Repair or replace error-detected parts.

  5. CHECK BRAKE POWER SUPPLY BACKUP UNIT 12V BATTERY POWER SUPPLY

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
    2. Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.
      CAUTION:

      Never operate the vehicle.

    3. Disconnect 12V battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY .
    4. Disconnect the brake power supply backup unit harness connector.
    5. Connect 12V battery cable to negative terminal.
    6. Check the voltage between brake power supply backup unit harness connector and ground.

      T10 6 Ground 10 - 16 V
    7. Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.
      CAUTION:

      Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.

    8. Check the voltage between brake power supply backup unit harness connector and ground.

      T10 6 Ground 10 - 16 V

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 6  .

    NO 

    GO TO STEP 7  .

  6. CHECK BRAKE POWER SUPPLY BACKUP UNIT 12V BATTERY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
    2. Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.
      CAUTION:

      Never operate the vehicle.

    3. Disconnect 12V battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY .
    4. Check the 10A fuse (#84).
    5. Check the continuity and for short circuit between brake power supply backup unit harness connector terminal (6) and 10A fuse (#84).

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    Perform trouble diagnosis for 12V battery power supply.

    NO 

    Repair or replace error-detected parts.

  7. CHECK ELECTRICALLY-DRIVEN INTELLIGENT BRAKE UNIT GROUND

    Check the continuity between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector and ground.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 8  .

    NO 

    Repair or replace error-detected parts.

  8. CHECK BRAKE POWER SUPPLY BACKUP UNIT GROUND

    Check the continuity between brake power supply backup unit harness connector and ground.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 9  .

    NO 

    Repair or replace error-detected parts.

  9. CHECK TERMINAL

    • Check for failures in the pin terminals and connections of the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector.
    • Check that there is no malfunction in pin terminal and connection of IPDM E/R harness connector.
    • Check for failures of pin terminals and connections in brake power supply backup unit harness connector.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    INSPECTION END

    NO 

    Repair or replace error-detected parts.
