Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK 12V BATTERY
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Check the 12V battery terminal connections. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY and WORK FLOW .
- Check the 12V battery. Refer to WORK FLOW .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 2 .
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts and GO TO STEP 2 .
- PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS (1)
With CONSULT
- Connect 12V battery cable to negative terminal.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Repeat step 2 two times or more.CAUTION:
Be sure to wait for 5 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Start CONSULT, and erase self-diagnosis result of "BRAKE" after record or print self-diagnosis results and freeze frame data (FFD).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Depress brake pedal by 100 mm (3.94 in) or more, and hold the position for 5 seconds or more.
- Release brake pedal.
- Start CONSULT and perform "BRAKE" self-diagnosis.
Is DTC "C1AC1" detected?
YES
GO TO STEP 3 .
NO
INSPECTION END
- CHECK CONNECTOR TERMINALS
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Disconnect 12V battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY .
- Disconnect the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector, then check for failures of pin terminals and connections.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 5 .
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts and GO TO STEP 4 .
- PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS (2)
With CONSULT
- Connect the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector.
- Connect 12V battery cable to negative terminal.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Repeat step 3 two times or more.CAUTION:
Be sure to wait for 5 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Start CONSULT, and erase self-diagnosis result of "BRAKE" after record or print self-diagnosis results and freeze frame data (FFD).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:

- Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Depress brake pedal by 100 mm (3.94 in) or more, and hold the position for 5 seconds or more.
- Release brake pedal.
- Start CONSULT and perform "BRAKE" self-diagnosis.
Is DTC "C1AC1" detected?
YES
GO TO STEP 5 .
NO
INSPECTION END

YES
GO TO STEP 8 .
NO
GO TO STEP 6 .
- CHECK IGNITION POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Disconnect 12V battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY .
- Check the 10A fuse (#54).
- Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
- Check the continuity between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit and IPDM E/R.
Electrically-driven intelligent brake unit IPDM E/R Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E40 26 E121 35 Existed - Check the continuity between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
Perform trouble diagnosis for ignition power supply.
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts and GO TO STEP 7 .
- PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS (3)
With CONSULT
- Connect the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector.
- Connect IPDM E/R harness connector.
- Connect 12V battery cable to negative terminal.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Repeat step 4 two times or more.CAUTION:
Be sure to wait for 5 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Start CONSULT, and erase self-diagnosis result of "BRAKE" after record or print self-diagnosis results and freeze frame data (FFD).

- CHECK 12V BATTERY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Disconnect 12V battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY .
- Check the 50A fusible link (#D).
- Check the continuity and for short circuit between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector terminal (1) and 50A fusible link (#D).
- Check the continuity and for short circuit between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector terminal (2) and 50A fusible link (#D).
- Check the 10A fuse (#83).
- Check the continuity and for short circuit between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector terminal (28) and 10A fuse (#83).
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
Perform trouble diagnosis for 12V battery power supply.
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts and GO TO STEP 10 .
- PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS (4)
With CONSULT
- Connect the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector.
- Connect 12V battery cable to negative terminal.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Repeat step 3 two times or more.CAUTION:
Be sure to wait for 5 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.

- CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Disconnect 12V battery cable from negative terminal. Refer to PRECAUTION FOR REMOVING 12V BATTERY .
- Disconnect the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector.
- Check the continuity between electrically-driven intelligent brake unit and ground.
Electrically-driven intelligent brake unit - Continuity Connector Terminal E40 32 Ground Existed
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 13 .
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts and GO TO STEP 12 .
- PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS (5)
With CONSULT
- Connect the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit harness connector.
- Connect 12V battery cable to negative terminal.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Repeat step 3 two times or more.CAUTION:
Be sure to wait for 5 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:

- Connect 12V battery cable to negative terminal.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Repeat step 3 two times or more.CAUTION:
Be sure to wait for 5 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch OFF.
- Start CONSULT and select "BRAKE" and "DATA MONITOR" according this order.
- Check "MOTOR POWER SUPPLY" and "CONTROL MODULE POWER". Refer to REFERENCE VALUE .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 14 .
NO
Replace the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS (6)
With CONSULT
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Repeat step 1 two times or more.CAUTION:
Be sure to wait for 5 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Start CONSULT, and erase self-diagnosis result of "BRAKE" after record or print self-diagnosis results and freeze frame data (FFD).

- CHECK DATA MONITOR (2)
With CONSULT
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Repeat step 1 two times or more.CAUTION:
Be sure to wait for 5 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch OFF.
- Start CONSULT and select "BRAKE" and "DATA MONITOR" according this order.
- Check "CONTROL MODULE TEMP". Refer to REFERENCE VALUE .
"CONTROL MODULE TEMP" is 150 °C (302 °F) or more?
YES
GO TO STEP 16 .
NO
INSPECTION END
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.
- CHECK ENGINE ROOM
Check for any locations of abnormal heating around the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit.
Are there any heated locations?
YES
Perform diagnosis of the heated locations, and wait for the temperature to fall. GO TO STEP 17 .
NO
Replace the electrically-driven intelligent brake unit. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS (7)
With CONSULT
- Turn the ignition switch OFF to ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Repeat step 1 two times or more.CAUTION:
Be sure to wait for 5 seconds or more after turning the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
- Get out of the vehicle, close all doors (including trunk lid), check that the map lamp is OFF, and wait for 3 minutes or more without opening these doors.CAUTION:
Never operate the vehicle.
- Turn the ignition switch ON without depressing the brake pedal.CAUTION:
Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.
- Start CONSULT, and erase self-diagnosis result of "BRAKE" after record or print self-diagnosis results and freeze frame data (FFD).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect CONSULT from data link connector.
