Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK ROOT CAUSE CIRCUIT
Check the root cause circuit that detected with CAN diagnosis function of CONSULT.
Branch Line
GO TO STEP 2 .
Short Circuit
GO TO STEP 3 .
- CHECK BRANCH LINE CIRCUIT
Check a branch line circuit for applicable ECU. Refer to following.

- CONNECTOR INSPECTION
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.
- Check the terminals and connectors of CAN gateway for damage, bend and loose connection (unit side and connector side).
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 4 .
NO
Repair the terminal and connector.
- CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)
- Disconnect the connector of CAN gateway.
- Check the continuity between the CAN gateway harness connector terminals.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 5 .
NO
Check the harness and repair or replace the root cause.
- CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (SHORT CIRCUIT)
- Disconnect all the unit connectors on multifunction media CAN communication circuit.
- Check the continuity between the CAN gateway harness connector terminals.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 6 .
NO
Check the harness and repair or replace the root cause.
- CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (SHORT CIRCUIT)
Check the continuity between the CAN gateway harness connector and the ground.

YES
GO TO STEP 7 .
NO
Check the harness and repair or replace the root cause.
- CHECK CAN GATEWAY TERMINATION CIRCUIT
- Remove the CAN gateway.
- Check the resistance between the CAN gateway terminals.

Is the measurement value within the specification?
YES
GO TO STEP 8 .
NO
Replace the CAN gateway. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- CHECK SYMPTOM
Connect all the connectors. Check if the symptoms described in the "Symptom (Results from interview with customer)" are reproduced.

GO TO STEP 9 .
Non - reproduced
Start the diagnosis again. Follow the trouble diagnosis procedure when past error is detected.
- CHECK UNIT REPRODUCTION
Perform the reproduction test as per the following procedure for each unit.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.
- Disconnect one of the unit connectors of multifunction media CAN communication circuit.NOTE:
CAN gateway has two termination circuits. Check other units first.
- Connect the battery cable to the negative terminal. Check if the symptoms described in the "Symptom (Results from interview with customer)" are reproduced.NOTE:
Although unit-related error symptoms occur, do not confuse them with other symptoms.

Connect the connector. Check other units as per the above procedure.
Non - reproduced
Replace the unit whose connector was disconnected.
