Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR CONNECTION
Check the following harness connector for disconnection or looseness.
- Electronic ignition switch control unit
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 2 .
NO
Securely connect the harness connectors.
- CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
Check power supply and ground circuit for electronic ignition switch control unit. Refer to WIRING DIAGRAM .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 3 .
NO
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
- CHECK CIRCUIT (SHORT TO BATTERY)
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the following unit connectors.
- Electronic ignition switch control unit
- Check voltage between data link connector and ground.
Terminals Voltage
(Approx.)+ - Data link connector Ground Connector Terminal M43 6 - 0 V 14
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 4 .
NO
Repair or replace harness.
- CHECK CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND)
Check continuity between data link connector and ground.
Data link connector Ground Continuity Connector Terminal M43 6 - Not existed 14 Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 5 .
NO
Repair or replace harness.
- CHECK CIRCUIT (SHORT WITH CAN-H AND CAN-L)
Check continuity between data link connector terminals.
Data link connector Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M43 6 M43 14 Not existed Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 6 .
NO
Repair or replace harness.
- CHECK CIRCUIT (OPEN)
Check continuity between the following unit harness connectors.
- Data link connector
- Electronic ignition switch control unitDATA LINK CONNECTOR - ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH CONTROL UNIT

Is the inspection result normal?
YES

NO
Repair or replace harness.
