Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR CONNECTION
Check the following harness connector for disconnection or looseness.
- CAN potential distributor electrical connector (chassis)
- Air bag diagnosis sensor unit
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 2 .
NO
Securely connect the harness connectors.
- CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
Check power supply and ground circuit for air bag diagnosis sensor unit. Refer to DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 3 .
NO
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
- CHECK CIRCUIT (SHORT TO BATTERY)
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the following unit connectors.
- CAN potential distributor electrical connector (chassis)
- Air bag diagnosis sensor unit
- Check voltage between CAN potential distributor electrical connector (chassis) harness connector and ground.
Terminals Voltage
(Approx.)+ - CAN potential distributor electrical connector (chassis) Ground Connector Terminal M293 8 - 0 V 9
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 4 .
NO
Repair or replace harness.
- CHECK CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND)
Check continuity between CAN potential distributor electrical connector (chassis) harness connector and ground.
CAN potential distributor electrical connector (chassis) Ground Continuity Connector Terminal M293 8 - Not existed 9 Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 5 .
NO
Repair or replace harness.
- CHECK CIRCUIT (SHORT WITH CAN-H AND CAN-L)
Check continuity between CAN potential distributor electrical connector (chassis) harness connector terminals.
CAN potential distributor electrical connector (chassis) Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M293 8 M293 9 Not existed Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 6 .
NO
Repair or replace harness.
- CHECK WIRING HARNESS
Check the wiring harness externals [Between CAN potential distributor electrical connector (chassis) and air bag diagnosis sensor unit].
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
INSPECTION END
NO
Repair or replace harness.
