Diagnosis Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Infiniti Q50. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. CHECK CONNECTOR

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF
    2. Check the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector for disconnection or looseness.
    3. Check the master cylinder pressure sensor harness connector for disconnection or looseness.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 3  .

    NO 

    Repair / replace harness or connector, securely lock the connector, and GO TO STEP 2  .

  2. PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS (1)

    G-20 With CONSULT

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
      NOTE:

      Wait at least 10 seconds after turning ignition switch OFF.

    2. Set the vehicle to READY/Start the engine.
      NOTE:

      Wait at least 10 seconds after set the vehicle to READY/start the engine.

    3. Repeat step 1 to 2 two or more times.
    4. Perform self-diagnosis for "ABS".

    Is DTC "C1142" detected?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 3  .

    NO 

    INSPECTION END

  3. CHECK ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT) POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

    Check the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) power supply and ground circuit. Refer to DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE .

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 4  .

    NO 

    Repair / replace harness, connector, fuse, or fusible link.

  4. CHECK MASTER CYLINDER PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF
    2. Disconnect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.
    3. Disconnect master cylinder pressure sensor harness connector.
    4. Check the continuity between master cylinder pressure sensor harness connector and ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 5  .

    NO 

    Repair / replace harness, connector, or terminal.

  5. CHECK MASTER CYLINDER PRESSURE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY

    1. Connect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
      NOTE:

      Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.

    3. Check the voltage between master cylinder pressure sensor harness connector terminals.
      + - Voltage
      Master cylinder pressure sensor
      Connector Terminal
      E70 3 1 10 - 16 V

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 6  .

    NO 

    Replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  6. CHECK DATA MONITOR

    G-20 With CONSULT

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Connect master cylinder pressure sensor harness connector.
    3. Select "ABS", "DATA MONITOR" and " PRESSURE SENSOR" according to this order.
    4. Check that the indication changes with the depth of pedal depression. Refer to REFERENCE VALUE .

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 7  .

    NO 

    GO TO STEP 8  .

  7. PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS (2)

    G-20 With CONSULT

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
      NOTE:

      Wait at least 10 seconds after turning ignition switch OFF.

    2. Set the vehicle to READY/Start the engine.
      NOTE:

      Wait at least 10 seconds after set the vehicle to READY/start the engine.

    3. Repeat step 1 to 2 two or more times.
    4. Perform self-diagnosis for "ABS".

    Is DTC "C1142" detected?

    YES 

    Replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

    NO 

    INSPECTION END

  8. CHECK MASTER CYLINDER PRESSURE SENSOR

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Connect following terminals using a test harness installed between master cylinder pressure sensor and harness connector.
      Master cylinder pressure sensor Harness connector
      Connector Terminal
      1 E70 1
      2 2
      3 3
    3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
      NOTE:

      Never set the vehicle to READY/Never start the engine.

    4. Check that the voltage between master cylinder pressure sensor harness connectors changes with the depth of pedal depression.
      NOTE:

      Never short out the terminals while measuring voltage.

      + - Voltage
      Master cylinder pressure sensor
      Connector Terminal
      E70 2 1 0.5 - 4.5 V

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES 

    Replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

    NO 

    Replace the master cylinder pressure sensor. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
