Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING:

Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high pressure engine coolant escaping from the radiator. Wrap a thick cloth around the cap. Slowly turn it a quarter turn to allow built-up pressure to escape. Carefully remove the cap by turning it all the way.

CAUTION:
NOTE:

When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc., cap or plug openings to prevent fluid from spilling.

  1. Remove the engine and transaxle with the front suspension member as a unit. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (FWD) or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (AWD).
  2. Disconnect the harness connectors from the transaxle.
  3. Disconnect the CVT oil warmer water hoses from engine side. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the CVT fluid charging pipe.
  5. Remove the transaxle to engine and engine to transaxle bolts.
  6. Separate the engine from the transaxle and remove the engine from the front suspension member. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (FWD) or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (AWD).
    NOTE:

    Using paint, put matching marks on the drive plate and torque converter when removing the torque converter to drive plate nuts.

  7. Remove transmission bracket.
  8. Lift the transaxle from the front suspension member.
