Removal And Installation: Removal
WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high pressure engine coolant escaping from the radiator. Wrap a thick cloth around the cap. Slowly turn it a quarter turn to allow built-up pressure to escape. Carefully remove the cap by turning it all the way.
CAUTION:
- Perform when the engine is cold.
- When replacing the transaxle, perform ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REPLACING TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY .
- When replacing TCM and transaxle assembly simultaneously, perform ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REPLACING TCM AND TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY .
NOTE:
When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc., cap or plug openings to prevent fluid from spilling.
- Remove the engine and transaxle with the front suspension member as a unit. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (FWD) or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (AWD).
- Disconnect the harness connectors from the transaxle.
- Disconnect the CVT oil warmer water hoses from engine side. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the CVT fluid charging pipe.
- Remove the transaxle to engine and engine to transaxle bolts.
- Separate the engine from the transaxle and remove the engine from the front suspension member. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
(FWD) or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
(AWD).NOTE:
Using paint, put matching marks on the drive plate and torque converter when removing the torque converter to drive plate nuts.
- Remove transmission bracket.
- Lift the transaxle from the front suspension member.
