Diagnosis Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Infiniti QX60. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Regarding Wiring Diagram information, refer to WIRING DIAGRAM .

  1. CHECK PARKING LAMP FUSES

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Check that the following fuses are not blown.
    Unit Location Fuse No. Capacity
    Parking lamps IPDME/R 51 10A
    52 10A

    Is the fuse blown?

    YES 

    Replace the blown fuse after repairing the affected circuit.

    NO 

    GO TO STEP 2  .

  2. CHECK TAIL LAMP RELAY OUTPUT (VOLTAGE)

    1. Disconnect the front combination lamp connectors, rear combination lamp connectors and license plate lamp connectors.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Turn the parking lamps ON.
    4. With the parking lamps ON, check voltage between the front combination lamp connector and ground.
      FRONT PARKING LAMP

      (+) (-) Voltage
      (Approx.)

    5. With the parking lamps ON, check voltage between the front combination lamp connector and ground.
      FRONT SIDE MARKER LAMP

    6. With the parking lamps ON, check voltage between the rear combination lamp connector and ground.
      TAIL LAMP

    7. With the parking lamps ON, check voltage between the rear combination lamp connector and ground.
      REAR SIDE MARKER LAMP

    8. With the parking lamps ON, check voltage between the license plate lamp connector and ground
      (+) (-) Voltage
      (Approx.)

    Are the inspection results normal?

    YES 

    GO TO STEP 4 

    NO 

    GO TO STEP 3 

  3. CHECK PARKING LAMP CIRCUIT (OPEN)

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect IPDM E/R connector.
    3. Check continuity between the IPDM E/R harness connector and the front combination lamp harness connector.
      FRONT PARKING LAMP

    4. Check continuity between the IPDM E/R harness connector and the front combination lamp harness connector.
      FRONT SIDE MARKER LAMP

    5. Check continuity between the IPDM E/R harness connector and the rear combination lamp harness connector.
      TAIL LAMP

    6. Check continuity between the IPDM E/R harness connector and the rear combination lamp harness connector.
      REAR SIDE MARKER LAMP

    7. Check continuity between the IPDM E/R harness connector and license plate lamp connector.

    Are the inspection results normal?

    YES 

    Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

    NO 

    Repair or replace the harness or connector.

  4. CHECK PARKING LAMP GROUND CIRCUITS

    1. Check continuity between the front combination lamp harness connector and ground.

    2. Check continuity between the front combination lamp harness connector and ground.
      FRONT SIDE MARKER LAMP

    3. Check continuity between the rear combination lamp harness connector and ground.
      TAIL LAMP

      (+) (-) Continuity
      Connector Terminal

    4. Check continuity between the rear combination lamp harness connector and ground.
      REAR SIDE MARKER LAMP

      (+) (-) Continuity

    5. Check continuity between the license plate lamp harness connector and ground.
      (+) (-) Continuity
      Connector Terminal

    Are the inspection results normal?

    YES 

    Inspect the parking lamp bulb.

    NO 

    Repair or replace the harness or connector.
