Diagnosis Procedure

Regarding Wiring Diagram information, refer to WIRING DIAGRAM .
CAUTION:
Perform diagnosis under the condition that engine cannot start by the following procedure.
- Remove fuel pump fuse.
- Crank or start the engine (where possible) until the fuel pressure is released.
- CHECK STARTER MOTOR MAGNETIC SWITCH CIRCUIT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect starter motor connector F28.
- Shift transmission into park or neutral.
- Check voltage between starter motor connector F28 terminal S and ground with the ignition in START.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
Magnetic switch circuit is OK. Further inspection is necessary. Refer to WORK FLOW (WITH GR8-1200 NI) or WORK FLOW (WITHOUT GR8-1200 NI) .
NO
GO TO STEP 2
- CHECK CONNECTOR
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Check the IPDM E/R connector F17 and starter motor connector F28 for damage, bent pins and loose connections.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 3
NO
Repair the terminal and connector.
- CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)
- Disconnect IPDM E/R connector F17.
- Check continuity between starter motor connector F28 terminal S and IPDM E/R connector F17 terminal 51.
Connector Terminal Connector Terminal Continuity F28 S F17 51 Yes - Check continuity between starter motor connector F28 terminal S and ground.
Connector Terminal - Continuity F28 S Ground No
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
Further inspection is necessary. Refer to WORK FLOW (WITH GR8-1200 NI) or WORK FLOW (WITHOUT GR8-1200 NI) .
NO
Repair the harness.
