Entering Self-Diagnostic Mode
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Change trip odometer to trip "A". Turn ignition switch to OFF position. While pressing trip odometer reset switch button, turn ignition switch to ON position. Release reset switch button within one second after ignition switch is turned to ON position. Go to next step.
- Press trip odometer reset switch more than 3 times within 5 seconds. All display segments should be illuminated, indicating that diagnostic mode has been entered. See Fig 1
. If any segments are not illuminated, instrument cluster assembly should be replaced.
- If diagnostic mode is entered, go to next step. If diagnostic mode cannot be entered, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE CANNOT BE ENTERED
.
- Press trip odometer reset switch. Wait one minute for gauges to stabilize. Gauge display should be as illustrated. See Fig 2
. If gauge display is as illustrated, no malfunction is indicated. Repair combination meter concern by symptom. See TROUBLE SHOOTING
. If any gauge does not display as shown, go to next step.
- Remove combination meter (instrument cluster). See COMBINATION METER
. Check screws securing gauges and Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC). See Figure
. If screws are tight, go to next step. If screws are loose, tighten as necessary and retest system.
- If speedometer display is as shown in illustration, go to next step. If speedometer display is not as shown in illustration, replace speedometer.
- If tachometer, fuel or temperature gauge display is not as shown in illustration, test appropriate gauge resistance. See GAUGE RESISTANCE
. If gauge resistance is okay, replace FPC or speedometer as necessary. If gauge resistance is not okay, replace appropriate gauge.
