Power Supply & Ground Circuit Check

  1. Disconnect combination meter (instrument cluster) harness connectors. Using a DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at appropriate connector terminal, with ignition switch in specified positions. See POWER SUPPLY & GROUND CIRCUIT CHECK  table. If readings are as specified, go to step  3 . If readings are not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Check fuses No. 5 (7.5-amp) and No. 11 (10-amp) at instrument panel fuse block. If fuses are open, check for a shorted wiring harness between the combination meter and instrument panel fuse block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Replace fuses as necessary. If fuses are okay, go to next step.
  3. Check for continuity to ground at combination meter harness connector M40, terminal No. 59 (Black wire). If continuity exists, power and ground check is complete. If continuity does not exist, check for an open in Black wire between the combination meter and body grounds M15, M71 and M76. For body ground location, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
