Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2002 Toyota RAV4, 2002 Toyota Highlander, 2002 Toyota Camry, 2002 Lexus RX 300, and 2001 Toyota RAV4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check battery voltage. If voltage is between 10-14 volts, go to next step. If battery failed voltage check, charge or replace the battery.
  2. Disconnect the ECM connector. Measure the voltage between terminals NSW and E1 when the ignition key is turned to each position. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . At the START position reading should be 10-14 volts, and all other positions should read zero volts. If reading is within specification, replace ECM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If not within specification, repair or replace transaxle wiring harness and connector.
