Fuel Gauge Circuit Test

  1. Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Black wire) at fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. See Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between fuel gauge sending unit and ground.
  2. Test fuel gauge sending unit. See FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT  under COMPONENT TESTS. If fuel gauge sending unit is okay, go to next step. If fuel gauge sending unit is defective, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
  3. Disconnect combination meter harness connector N13. Measure resistance between combination meter connector N13, terminal No. 8 (Red/Blue wire) and terminal No. 5 (Red/Blue wire) at fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/Blue wire between combination meter connector N13 and fuel gauge sending unit connector.
