Front Wiper & Washer Activate Individually, But Not In Combination: I30

  1. If using Nissan's CONSULT scan tool, go to next step. If not using scan tool, go to step  4.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Touch START, IVMS, then WIPER on scan tool display. Touch DATA MONITOR on scan tool display. Select WASH SW on scan tool. When washer switch is in ON position, scan tool should display WASH SW ON. When washer switch is in OFF position, scan tool should display WASH SW OFF. If scan tool display is as specified, replace BCM. If scan tool display is not as specified, go to next step.
  3. Test wiper switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. If wiper switch is defective, replace wiper switch. If wiper switch is okay, check wiring harness between wiper switch and BCM for an open or short circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Perform on-board diagnostics using mode II diagnostics. See appropriate MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS article. If on-board diagnostics indicate intermittent wiper switch is functioning, replace BCM. If on-board diagnostics do not indicate intermittent wiper switch is functioning, go to step  3.
