Fuel Gauge Circuit Test
- Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) at fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. See Fig 1
. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between fuel gauge sending unit and ground.
- Test fuel gauge sending unit. See FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT
under COMPONENT TESTS. If fuel gauge sending unit is okay, go to next step. If fuel gauge sending unit is defective, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
- Disconnect combination meter White 16-pin harness connector M24. Measure resistance in Yellow/Purple wire between terminal No. 7 at combination meter harness connector M24 and terminal No. 3 at the fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. See Figure
and Fig 1
. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Purple wire between combination meter and fuel gauge sending unit.
- Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 7 (Yellow/Purple wire) at combination meter harness connector M24. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Yellow/Purple wire. If continuity does not exist, fuel gauge circuit is okay at this time.
