Speedometer & Trip Odometer Malfunctioning

If speedometer and trip odometer are malfunctioning, check for the following and repair as necessary:

• On I30 and QX4, perform self-diagnostic system test. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  .
• Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS)  under COMPONENT TESTS.
• Faulty VSS circuit. See SPEEDOMETER & VSS CIRCUIT TEST  under SYSTEM TESTS.
• Faulty power and/or ground circuits. Under SYSTEM TESTS, see POWER SUPPLY & GROUND CIRCUIT CHECK  .
• Faulty instrument cluster printed circuit.
• Faulty speedometer.
