Power Supply & Ground Circuit Check: I30

Disconnect instrument panel 16-pin harness connector M89 and instrument panel 10-pin harness connector M88. See Figure . Measure voltage at terminal No. 37 (Green wire) at instrument panel harness connector M89. See Figure . If battery voltage exists only with ignition switch in RUN and START positions, go to next step. If battery voltage exists with ignition switch in any other position, repair short to voltage in Green wire between instrument cluster and fuse No. 13 in instrument panel fuse box. If battery voltage does not exist with ignition switch in RUN and START positions, check for the following and repair as necessary:
- Blown fuse No. 13 (10-amp) in instrument panel fuse box.
- Open in Green wire between instrument cluster and fuse No.

- Problem in power distribution circuit. See appropriate POWER DISTRIBUTION wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
Measure voltage at terminal No. 15 (Yellow/Blue wire) at instrument cluster harness connector M88. If battery voltage exists with ignition switch in all positions, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist with ignition switch in all positions, check for the following and repair as necessary:
- Blown fuse No. 40 (7.5-amp) in instrument panel fuse box.
- Open in Yellow/Blue wire between instrument cluster and fuse No. 40. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Problem in power distribution circuit. See appropriate POWER DISTRIBUTION wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 16 (Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector M88. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, instrument cluster power and ground circuits are okay at this time. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between instrument cluster and ground.
