Fuel Gauge Circuit Test: I30
- Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) at fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. See Fig 1
. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between fuel gauge sending unit and ground.
- Test fuel gauge sending unit. See FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT
under COMPONENT TESTS. If fuel gauge sending unit is okay, go to next step. If fuel gauge sending unit is defective, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
- Disconnect instrument cluster 14-pin harness connector M29. Measure resistance in Orange/Blue wire between terminal No. 5 at instrument cluster harness connector M29 and terminal No. 3 at fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. See Figure
and Fig 1
. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Blue wire between instrument cluster and fuel gauge sending unit.
- Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 5 (Orange/Blue wire) at instrument cluster harness connector M29. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Orange/Blue wire. If continuity does not exist, fuel gauge circuit is okay at this time.
