Temperature Gauge: M30

  1. To check power source, turn ignition on. Check voltage between terminal No. 9 and ground. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, go to step 3).
  2. If battery voltage is not present, check for blown fuse or fusible link. Check continuity between battery terminal and combination meter. Check battery circuit from ignition switch and relay. See appropriate wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS Section.
  3. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between temperature gauge terminal "B" and ground. If approximately 8 volts are present, go to step 5).
  4. If approximately 8 volts are not present, check combination meter printed circuit. If printed circuit is okay, check combination meter voltage regulator.
  5. Turn ignition on. Connect a jumper wire with a 3.4 watt light bulb between temperature gauge terminal "A" and ground for less than 10 seconds.
  6. If temperature gauge needle does not move smoothly from "C" to "H", replace temperature gauge. If needle moves smoothly from "C" to "H", check wire continuity between terminal No. 14 and ground.
  7. If continuity is not present, repair or replace wire harness between combination meter and temperature gauge unit. If continuity exists, test temperature gauge sending unit. See TEMPERATURE GAUGE SENDING UNIT  under TESTING.
