DTC Information: DTC Detecting Condition

Item Detecting Condition Possible cause
Case 1 DTC Strategy
  • Wheel speed sensor signal monitoring during driving (speed jump)
  1. Improper installation of wheel speed sensor
  2. Abnormal Rotor and wheel bearing
  3. Faulty Wheel speed sensor (FR)
  4. External noise
Enable Conditions
  • ABS/ESC monitors abnormal wheel speed variation. This monitoring function works when the vehicle speed is above 2 Kph.
  1. A failure is detected if the ECU recognizes wheel acceleration of ±100g 56 times at one wheel or 5 times at two or more wheels.
  2. A failure is detected if the ECU recognizes wheel acceleration of 70g 126 times at one wheel or 20 times at two or more wheels.
  3. A failure is detected if the wheel speed acceleration of -100g occurs and it is not recovered at vehicle speed longer than 140 msec.
  4. A failure is detected if the wheel speed acceleration of ±70g 60 times at only one wheel. * Speed jump error counter is cleared every 30 minutes.
Remarks
  • The number of speed jump counter is cleared every 30 minutes. (for 1), 2), 3)).
  • In case of more than 2 wheel failures, EBD Lamp is On. (EBD control is not available)
  • In case of more than 4 wheel failures, AHB Warning Lamp is On.

* 100g: About 35 Kph per 10 msec, 70g: About 24 Kph per 10 msec
Case 2 DTC Strategy
  • Invalid wheel speed sensor signal monitoring (wrong exciter/missing teeth)
Enable Conditions
  • If following interference and signal disturbance is detected
  1. A failure is detected in case that three wheel speeds are above 15 Kph and in specific range and the other wheel speed is out of specific range longer than 20 seconds. (If failure wheel speed is under 2 Kph, it will be the Air-Gap failure.)
  2. A failure is detected in case that two wheel speeds are above 15 Kph and in specific range and the other wheel speed (s) is (are) out of specific range longer than 60 seconds.
  3. A failure is detected in case that Min Wheel Speed is less than 60% of Max Wheel Speed which is over than 40 Kph for more than 2 min.
  4. A failure is detected in case that Min Wheel Speed is less than 40% of Max Wheel Speed which is over than 20 Kph and less than 40 Kph for more than 2 min.
Remarks
  • In case of more than 2 wheel failures, EBD Lamp is On. (EBD control is not available).
  • In case of more than 4 wheel failures, AHB Warning Lamp is On.
Case 3 DTC Strategy
  • Invalid wheel speed sensor signal monitoring (sensor type wrong installation)
Enable Conditions
  • If following interference and signal disturbance is detected
  1. A failure is detected if the signal is detected as a smart wheel sensor signal 200 times consecutively on the wheel that is set as active wheel sensor.
  2. A failure is detected if the signal is detected as an invalid signal (is not smart wheel sensor signal) 200 times consecutively on the wheel that is set as smart wheel sensor.

(the failure is detected when wheel speed is in the range of 5~60 Kph).
Remarks
  • In case of more than 2 wheel failures, EBD Lamp is On. (EBD control is not available).
  • In case of more than 4 wheel failures, AHB Warning Lamp is On.
MIL
  • The EBD/RBS/ABS/ESP (ESC)/DBC warning lamps are activated. The AVH warning lamp is activated in case of the vehicle equipped with AVH.
Reset condition
  • After ignition switch turned off and on again and vehicle speed is greater than 2 Kph.
