DTC Information: DTC Detecting Condition

Item Detecting Condition Possible cause
Case 1 DTC Strategy
  • Wheel speed sensor signal monitoring (air gap)
  1. Improper installation of wheel speed sensor
  2. Large Air-Gap
  3. Wheel speed sensor type mis-installation
  4. Faulty Wheel speed sensor (FL)
Enable Conditions
  • In case of large air gap between tone wheel and wheel speed sensor, there is no pulse signal input and ABS/ESC recognizes wheel speed as 0 Kph. A failure is detected by comparison of the 4 wheels speed in following conditions.
  1. A failure is detected in case that the slowest wheel speed is below 0.25 Kph and all other wheel speeds exceed 10 Kph with the vehicle acceleration under 0.4g and this condition continues 160 msec.
  2. A failure is detected in case that two or more wheels speed is below 2 Kph and the speed of other wheel (s) exceed 10 Kph with the vehicle acceleration under 0.4g and this condition continues 20 seconds.
  3. If the vehicle acceleration is above 0.4g in 1), 2), the failure detection time 3 minutes.
  4. A failure is detected in case that one or two wheel speed is below 0.25 Kph longer than 12 seconds after all wheels exceed 10 Kph. However, If All Non-dive wheel are less than 0.25 Kph, fault detection time is 120 sec.
Case 2 DTC Strategy
  • The speed difference between wheels monitoring (long-term ABS mode)
Enable Conditions
  • If the following failure is detected caused by difference of wheel speed.
  1. A failure is detected if the wheel speed is below 2 Kph longer than 12 seconds during ABS control.
  2. A failure is detected if the ABS control duration exceeds 36 seconds. In this case, ABS/ESC recognizes all wheels are defective.
  3. A failure is detected if the wheel speed is above 512 Kph longer than 100ms
Case 3 DTC Strategy
  • Invalid wheel speed sensor signal monitoring (wrong exciter/missing teeth)
Enable Conditions
  • If following interference and signal disturbance is detected
  1. A failure is detected in case that three wheel speeds are above 15 Kph and in specific range and the other wheel speed is out of specific range longer than 20 seconds. (If failure wheel speed is under 2 Kph, it will be the Air-Gap failure.)
  2. A failure is detected in case that two wheel speeds are above 15 Kph and in specific range and the other wheel speed (s) is (are) out of specific range longer than 60 seconds.
  3. A failure is detected in case that Min Wheel Speed is less than 60% of Max Wheel Speed which is over than 40 Kph for more than 2 min.
  4. A failure is detected in case that Min Wheel Speed is less than 40% of Max Wheel Speed which is over than 20 Kph and less than 40 Kph for more than 2 min.

* In case of 1), 2) if failure speed is less than 2 Kph, DTC is displayed as air-gap failure.
MIL
  • The EBD/RBS/ABS/ESP (ESC)/DBC warning lamps are activated. The AVH warning lamp is activated in case of the vehicle equipped with AVH.
Reset condition
  • After ignition switch turned off and on again and vehicle speed is greater than 2 Kph.
Remarks
  • In case of more than 2 wheel failures, EBD Lamp is On. (EBD control is not available).
  • In case of more than 4 wheel failures, AHB Warning Lamp is On.
