DTC Information And Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

Trouble Shooting Condition Possible cause
Main action
  • Monitor the wheel speed sensor signal
  1. Improper installation of wheel speed sensor (poor air gap)
  2. Failure to engage with the wheel speed sensor knuckle mounting bolt
  3. Deformation/contamination of tone wheel and poor performance
  4. Excessive mechanical force intrusion
  5. Abnormal Rotor and wheel bearing
  6. Faulty Wheel speed sensor
  7. Open or short circuit of Wheel speed sensor circuit
  8. Faulty ESP (ESC)
Threshold value Case 1
  • When wheel speed is less than 2.75 km/h (1.7 MPH) in more than one wheel while the vehicle speed is greater than 40 km/h (24.9 MPH) for more than 300 milliseconds
Case 2
  • When sudden change in wheel speed is monitored on more than one wheel and abnormal signal* is detected
    • When a brake pedal is stepped on, and wheel speed is rapidly changed for more than 20 seconds
    • When a brake pedal is not stepped on, and wheel speed is rapidly changed for more than 5 seconds
    • In case that more than three wheel speed change are rapidly for more than 1 second

      * If a wheel sensor failure is detected during non-control, control is immediately stopped

      * Abnormal signal: 100g (Approx. 99.2 m/s2)

MIL
  • Only one wheel failure

: ABS/ESP (ESC) warning lamps are activated

  • Two or more wheels failure

: ABS/EBD/ESP (ESC) warning lamps are activated

Reset condition
  • After ignition switch turned OFF and back ON, when all wheel speed is normal after driving more than 12 km/h (7.45 MPH).
