DTC Information And Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

Trouble Shooting Condition Possible cause
Main action
  • Monitor the wheel speed sensor signal
  1. Improper installation of wheel speed sensor
  2. Large Air-Gap
  3. Installation of wrong type Wheel speed sensor
  4. Faulty Wheel speed sensor
  5. Tone wheel with wrong number of teeth
  6. Abnormal tire size
  7. Faulty ESP (ESC)
Threshold value Case 1
  • If one of wheel speeds is less than 2.75 km/h (1.7 MPH) when the vehicle speed is greater than 12 km/h (7.4 MPH).
    • Fault detection time: When the fault occurs for more than 1 second
    • Detection area: When driving more than 12 kph for the first time
    • When the vehicle is stopped and restarted, it is redetected at 12 km/h (7.45 MPH).
  • Even though every wheel speed is normal in case of above, a failure is detected when one of wheel speeds is less than 2.75 km/h (1.7 MPH) during vehicle acceleration or deceleration from 12 km/h (7.4 MPH).
Case 2
  • A failure is detected when there is a difference of wheel speeds due to air gap or tone wheel failure (missing teeth).
    1. FL/RL, FR/RR: 6 km/h~12 km/h (3.7~7.4 MPH)

      FL/FR: 10 km/h~16 km/h (6.2~9.9 MPH)

Fault detection time: maximum 20 seconds

    2. FL/RL, FR/RR: >12 km/h (7.4 MPH)

      FL/FR: > 16 km/h (9.9 MPH)

Fault detection time: maximum 10 seconds

    3. Fault detection time is maximum 80 seconds when spin occurs on front wheel.
Case 3
  • A failure is detected when sensor failure of smart sensor or installation of wrong type sensor.
    1. When Invalid pulse that does not correspond to the specifications of the smart wheel sensor is input for more than 50 times. (Vehicle Stop or Driving condition)
    2. When the type of the wheel sensor mounted on the vehicle does not match the specification (vehicle stop condition).

Fault detection time: maximum 2.5 seconds

MIL
  • Only one wheel failure

: ABS/ESP (ESC) warning lamps are activated

  • Two or more wheels failure

: ABS/EBD/ESP (ESC) warning lamps are activated

Reset condition
  • After ignition switch turned OFF and back ON, when all wheel speed is normal after driving more than 12 km/h (7.45 MPH).
