In the IVT transmission, the change gear steps are determined according to the speed ratio of the primary (drive) pulley and the secondary (driven) pulley. Therefore, the target pulley ratio and the current pulley ratio must always be constant, and if the slip occurs, the pulley ratio is fixed to a certain ratio and the mode is switched to the fail safe mode.
