Repair Procedures: Replacement
CAUTION:
- When removing with a flat - tip screwdriver or remover, wrap protective tape around the tools to prevent damage to components.
- Put on gloves to prevent hand injuries.
NOTE:
- Take care not to bend or scratch the trim and panels.
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Remove the floor console assembly. (Refer to Floor Console - "FLOOR CONSOLE ASSEMBLY ")
- Remove the front pillar trim.
- To remove the front pillar trim, the fastener remover (A) below must be used.
- After slightly lifting up the front pillar trim and putting the tool in, remove the mounting clip (A) by pulling it.
Information
- Be sure to replace the existing clips with new ones when removing or replacing the front pillar trim.
- Remove the front pillar trim (A).

- To remove the front pillar trim, the fastener remover (A) below must be used.
- Detach the clips, then remove the front door body side weatherstrip (A).

- Using a screwdriver or remover, remove the crash pad side cover (A).

- Loosen the mounting screws, remove the crash pad lower panel (A).
- Press the lock pin, separate diagnosis connector (A).
- Using a screwdriver or remover, remove the photo sensor cover (A).
- Press the lock pin, separate the connectors (A).
- Using a screwdriver or remover, remove the cluster fascia panel upper garnish (A).
- Remove the crash pad garnish

- Using screwdriver or remover, remove the steering column shroud upper panel (A).
- Loosening the mounting screws, using a screwdriver or remover, remove the crash pad garnish (A).
- Press the lock pin, separate the connector (A).

- Using screwdriver or remover, remove the steering column shroud upper panel (A).
- Loosen the mounting screws by turning the steering wheel to the left and right, and remove the steering column shroud lower panel (A).
- Remove the instrument cluster. (Refer to Body Electrical System - "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ")
- Loosen the mounting screw, remove the center speaker (A).
- Press the lock pin, separate the center speaker connector (A).
- Remove the glove box housing cover. (Refer to Crash Pad - "GLOVE BOX HOUSING COVER ")
- Loosen the mounting screws, remove the A/C & heater controller unit (A).
- Disconnect the A/C & heater controller connectors (A) and hose (B).
- Loosen the mounting screws, remove the AVN keyboard assembly (A).
- Press the lock pin, separate the start button connector (A).
- Press the lock pin, separate the connectors (A).
- Remove the USB port assembly (A) by pulling it in the direction of the arrow.
- Press the lock pin, separate the connectors (A).
- Loosen the mounting screws, remove the crash pad center panel (A).
- Remove the steering wheel. (Refer to Steering System - "STEERING WHEEL ")
- Remove the multifunction switch assembly. (Refer to Body Electrical System - "MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ")
- Remove the crash pad air vent.
[LH]
- Loosen the mounting screw, remove the crash pad air vent (A).
- Press the lock pin, separate the mood lamp connector (A).
[RH]
- Loosen the mounting screw, remove the crash pad air vent (A).
- Loosen the passenger's airbag (PAB) mounting nuts (A).
Tightening torque:
3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)
- Loosen the mounting bolts and nuts and remove the main crash pad assembly (A).
Tightening torque:
16.7 - 25.5 N.m (1.7 - 2.6 kgf.m, 12.3 - 18.8 lb-ft)
- Press the lock pin, separate the passenger's airbag (PAB) connectors (A).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Information
- Make sure the crash pad fits onto the guide pins correctly.
- Before tightening the bolts, make sure the crash pad wire harnesses are not pinched.
- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the antenna lead is connected properly.
- Make sure that each of the assembly components operates properly.
- Replace any damaged clips (or pin - type retainers).
