DTC Information: DTC Detecting Condition

Trouble Shooting Condition Possible cause
Case 1 Main action
  • Monitor wheel speed sensor signal (air gap).
  1. Improper installation of wheel speed sensor
  2. Large Air-Gap
  3. Wheel speed sensor type mis-installation
  4. Faulty Wheel speed sensor (RL)
Threshold value
  • The followings can be caused when ABS/ESC receives no pulse signal input and recognizes wheel speed at 0 kph due to a large air gap between tone wheel and wheel speed sensor.

A failure is detected by comparing the speed of 4 wheels as below.
  1. A failure is detected when the slowest wheel speed is below 0.25 km/h (0.155mi/h) while other 3 wheels exceed 10 km/h (6.21mi/h) with the vehicle acceleration below 0.4g. Plus, this continues for more than 150 msec.
  2. A failure is detected when the speed of two or more wheels are below 2 km/h (1.24mi/h) and that of other wheel(s) exceed(s) 10 km/h (6.21mi/h) with the vehicle acceleration below 0.4g. Plus, this continues for more than 20 seconds.
  3. If the vehicle acceleration is above 0.4g in 1), 2), the failure detection time increases to 3 minutes and above.
  4. A failure is detected when the speed of one or two wheels drops below 0.25 km/h (0.155mi/h) for more than 12 seconds after all wheels exceed 10 km/h (6.21mi/h).

However, if All Non-dive wheels are below 0.25 km/h (0.155mi/h), the failure detection time increases to 120 sec and above.
Case 2 Main action
  • Monitor the speed difference between wheels (long-term ABS mode)
Threshold value
  • The following failures can be caused by the difference of wheel speed.
  1. A failure is detected when the wheel speed is below 2 km/h (1.24mi/h) for over 12 seconds during ABS control.
  2. A failure is detected when the ABS control continues for more than 36 seconds. In this case, ABS/ESC recognizes that all wheels are defective.
  3. A failure is detected when the wheel speed is above 512 km/h (318mi/h) for over 100 ms.
MIL
  • The EBDABS/ESP (ESC) warning lamps are activated.
Reset condition
  • After ignition switch turned off and on again and vehicle speed is greater than 2 kph.
Remarks
  • EBD Lamp is on when more than 2 wheel failures detected. (EBD control is not available)
