DTC Information And Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

Troubleshooting Condition Possible Cause
Main Action
  • Monitor the wheel speed sensor signal
  1. Improper installation of wheel speed sensor
  2. Large Air-Gap
  3. A different type of Wheel speed sensor is installed
  4. Faulty Wheel speed sensor
  5. Tone wheel with wrong number of teeth
  6. Abnormal tire size
  7. Faulty IEBM
Threshold value Case 1 (LargeAir-Gap)  
  • The followings can be caused when ABS/ESC receives no pulse signal input and recognizes wheel speed at 0KPH due to a large air gap between tone wheel and wheel speed sensor

    A failure is detected by comparing the speed of 4 wheels as below

  1. A failure is detected when the slowest wheel speed is below 0.25 km/h (0.155 MPH) while other 3 wheels exceed 10 km/h (6.21 MPH) with the vehicle acceleration below 0.4g. Plus, this continues for more than 160 msec.
  2. A failure is detected when the speed of two or more wheels are below 2 km/h (1.24 MPH) and that of other wheel(s) exceed(s) 10 km/h (6.21 MPH) with the vehicle acceleration below 0.4g. Plus, this continues for more than 20 seconds
  3. If the vehicle acceleration is above 0.4g in 1), 2), the failure detection time increases to 3 minutes and above.
  4. A failure is detected when the speed of one or two wheels drops below 0.25 km/h (0.155 MPH) for more than 12 seconds after all wheels exceed 10 km/h (6.21 MPH). However, if All Non-dive wheels are below 0.25 km/h (0.155 MPH), the failure detection time increases to 120 sec and above

    * 0.4g: 14 kph/1 sec
Case 2 (Long Term ABS Mode)
  • The following failures can be caused by the difference of wheel speed
  1. A failure is detected when the wheel speed is below 2 km/h (1.24 MPH) for over 12 seconds during ABS control
  2. A failure is detected when the ABS control continues for more than 36 seconds. In this case, ABS/ESC recognizes that all wheels are defective
  3. A failure is detected when the wheel speed is above 512 km/h (318 MPH) for over 100 ms
MIL  
  • Only one wheel failure

    : ABS/ESC/RBS/DBC/AVH warning lamps are activated

  • More than two wheels failure

    : EBD/ESC/ABS/RBS/DBC/AVH warning lamps are activated

  • One or Two wheels failure (Left Front and Rear or Right Front and Rear]): EPB warning lamp is not activated
  • Front/Rear All Side, All Side wheels failure

    : EPB warning lamp is activated

  • All wheels failure:

    : IEB warning lamp is activated
Reset Condition
  • Turn ignition switch OFF and back ON
