Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Remove the air duct (A).

  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
    1. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS) connector (A).
    2. Separate the bleeder hose (B).
    3. Separate the intake hose (C).
    4. Remove the air cleaner assembly (D).

      Tightening torque: 

      Intake hose clamp: 2.9 - 4.9 N.m (0.3 - 0.5 kgf.m, 2.2 - 3.6 lb-ft)

      Air cleaner mounting bolt: 7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb-ft)

  4. Disconnect the battery (+) terminal (A).

    Battery (+) terminal mounting nut: 

    7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb-ft)

  5. Remove the battery bracket (A) and the battery (B).

    Battery bracket: 

    9.8 - 14.7 N.m (1.0 - 1.5 kgf.m, 7.2 - 10.8 Ib-ft)

  6. Disconnect the ECM connector (A).

  7. Remove the TCM (A) after pull the clip.

  8. Loosen the mounting bolts and then removing the battery tray (A).

    Battery tray: 

    9.8 - 14.7 N.m (1.0 - 1.5 kgf.m, 7.2 - 10.8 Ib-ft)

  9. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector (A).

    NOTE:
    • Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle, it may damage the paint; if brake fluid does contact the paint, wash it off immediately with water.
    • Make sure no dirt or other foreign matter is allowed to contaminate the brake fluid.
  10. Separate the brake tube (A) from the master cylinder by loosening the tube flare nut.
    NOTE:
    • When removing the brake tube, be careful not to damage or tear the tap.
    • When mounting, keep in mind the position of the brake tube and mount the flare nut to the correct position.

    Tightening torque: 

    18.6 - 22.6 N.m (1.9 - 2.3 kgf.m, 13.7 - 16.6 lb-ft)

  11. Remove the master cylinder (A) after loosening the master cylinder nuts.

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 15.7 N.m (1.0 - 1.6 kgf.m, 7.2 - 11.6 lb-ft)

  12. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum pressure sensor connector (A).

  13. Remove the fixing clip and the vacuum hose (A) from the brake booster.

  14. Remove the snap pin (A) and the clevis pin (B).

  15. Loosen the fixed nut (A) and then removing the brake booster (B).

    Tightening torque: 

    16.7 - 25.5 N.m (1.7 - 2.6 kgf.m, 12.3 - 18.8 lb-ft)
